Thanks to your support, we now have more than 42,000 signatures.

Kiena's mum, Angela Dawes, spoke passionately at our recent Blackpool event. Her words bring home why it is so important to call for change and fight for Kiena's Law:

I’m speaking from my heart when I say this: my girl didn’t want to die. My girl wanted to live. But she lived in fear.

Four years ago we lost a beautiful, very special and kind young woman who is missed every single day, not only by me but by so many people who loved her.

Kiena endured two years of abuse from her partner. In the note she left on her phone before taking her life, she wrote, “I was murdered.”

Every day I look into the eyes of Kiena’s little girl and wish her mum was here with her. The reality is that she isn’t.

Kiena had a right to live. She reached out for help over and over again, and I was so proud of her for doing that.

But she was scared. She was not protected by the people and systems that should have protected her. Instead, there was far too much victim blaming.

I will always be Kiena’s voice, and I will also be a voice for the many other girls we have lost. Girls should not have to die to be heard.

That is why I believe so strongly in Kiena’s Law. A standalone charge for the abuse Kiena suffered could help save lives and prevent other families experiencing the heartbreak we have endured.
