We, the undersigned, urge you to immediately restore full funding for the second TVNZ regional reporter in the Otago Southland area.

It is outrageous that for a geographic area larger than Switzerland, Slovenia and Luxembourg combined, there is currently only one full time reporter.

Recently, you refused to commit to replace the second Otago Southland reporter after the position was vacated. You even suggested there may be further cuts to regional coverage and that TVNZ was basing its resourcing on population concentration.

Regional media coverage is being diluted, and this issue is symptomatic of wider regional neglect.

The community has saved this reporting position once, and now we need to do it again.
