Protect our National Parks

With the election of Donald Trump as our President, it has come to the attention of many Americans that he has expressed an intent to drill for oil in American National Parks. While to some this appears to be an effective way to save or gain money for the country, it is an action that must be avoided at all costs. When the National Parks were created by Woodrow Wilson just over 100 years ago their intent was that "the Service thus established shall promote and regulate the use of the Federal areas known as national parks, monuments and reservations…by such means and measures as conform to the fundamental purpose of the said parks, monuments and reservations, which purpose is to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations." To actively destroy the wilderness that has been so carefully preserved is wrong and unAmerican. While it is true that drilling is allowed currently on a percentage of National Parks, this is only on land where mineral rights are privately owned. The most recent efforts to prevent drilling on Federal Land are the 9B Regulations imposed in Novemebrr of 2016. It is imperative that more be done to protect our land. With so little land in the world that can truly be called wilderness, and more and more being destroyed today, it is vital that we as Americans do what we can to defend that land here within our borders. please sign the petition below and press our acting Secretary of the Interior, Mr. Kevin Haugrud to make the necessary changes to protect our land.
