On March 17th, 2017 my niece Aja Hill was struck and killed by a car going over 60mph on Barron Lane during her Spring Break. Many people in our community have witnessed on numerous occasions cars and even school buses speeding down our Residential streets. This is a community that has Atwood Elementary school children walking home from school everyday, and everyday they have to walk in the streets and avoid cars moving at a ridiculous amount of speed while neglecting the presence of Elementary School Children trying to get home safely. We bring forth this petition in hope that you will hear our cry for Speed Bumps not only on our community streets, but for the students attending Atwood Elementary were their are absolutely no Speed Bumps. This community is petitioning to Save and Protect our Children. We also have Cross Gaurds who risk their lives standing in the streets directing traffic. My father Reverend Bobbie Ray Lewis is one of those Cross Gaurds who stands on Brentwood Stair and Barron Lane making sure our school children have the Right-Away to get home safely.
