"In an investigation published last year, the New York Times said Carlson “constructed what may be the most racist show in the history of cable news." https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jul/27/tucker-carlson-racism-book-biography and Herco is rolling out the red carpet and saying "Come on in! The water is fine!"
Being a long term resident of this community Hershey Entertainment and Resorts should be well aware of the significant issues we have with racism in this area. We still have KKK chapters alive and well in areas like Jonestown and York, Asian people were targeted hard during covid along with the usual constant claims of their eating and serving people's pets in their restaurants and homes, Hispanic people are degraded for speaking their own language which was natively spoken in this country before the colonists even got here and I even personally worked at a place that openly said to me that they don't hire Hispanics because "they steal" (this was said in response to me asking them to hire someone who is bilingual so we could better serve that population). We have many business owners with records of ethnic intimidation, extensive harassment, assault, and battery records, some local political officials some of whom are also first responders who hold and publicly post extremely racist and disturbing things, even an editor to a local newspaper was happy to turn a blind eye to racism. The point being racism is already severe problem in this area, the flames are already a bon fire, and here comes Herco with the gasoline. Is this that "support" thing they state on their website? Is this how they "support" poc?
Tucker Carlson's event in Hershey will embolden the already overly bold racists in this area, people will be harmed as a result of this show, Herco's limp response didn't address ANY concerns all of which are significant and valid. Who is going to protect the people from Herco's actions? Who is going to pay for that protection? Herco simply can't plead ignorance here, they could be held legally liable for damages caused, they could permanently stain their reputation and Milton Hershey's legacy. Do they care? Apparently not. But we do, and we can do something about this.
