Tucker Carlson performed at the Lancaster County Convention Center on Saturday April 20th, 2024 bringing protests. In a WGAL article it's quoted:

"Lancaster police said they're preparing for crowds and possible protests."

Seeing as the police, a tax payer funded entity, have to prepare and almost certainly have to manage the crowds drawn to this type of performance. Who's paying for this? This isn't a designated campaign event (which as mentioned in a previous update it was promised the campaign would pay for expenses incurred), but it's certainly bringing the very same draw and challenges that come along with one. Why hasn't Hershey Entertainment addressed not only the cost concerns that come with Tucker Carlson's shows, but also putting our local officers in a potentially dangerous situation that they simply don't have to be and shouldn't be put in? Is this another one of Herco's examples of "support"?

The only words we get in defense of this show are this glib, nameless, blurb:

“We aim to provide a platform where a wide range of voices can be heard, regardless of their political orientation.
As a public venue, we treat all political commentators and performers equally in their applications to use our space, whether they lean left, right, or center." https://www.pennlive.com/news/2024/06/hershey-entertainment-defends-its-tucker-carlson-tour-event-diversity-commitment.html?outputType=amp

How is that suppose to assay any concerns? How will this statement help the store owner who sells LGBTQ+ merchandise feel safe during this event? Any POC feel safe being around Hershey during this event? The disabled community doesn't fare well around mask mockers. The local Ukrainian population is understandably outraged. Even some conservatives don't want this type event in their backyard. Herco, we are owed some answers at the very least.

In 2030, which isn't that far away, tax payer funding appears to be up for negotiation. Herco's decision here may set the stage for a real sour performance then.
