Hi Neighbors,
Some excitement today with the weather and power, but at least we got some rain for the gardens. I took videos of the extra lots adjacent to Old Greenwich school that are rarely used, and sent the links to our Selectmen and women, and the Greenwich Parking Authority. If you can go back there and take a look at the lots up against the trees at the back of the lot. It’s called “West End permitted parking only”. If you can visualize the tents there, and keeping that crosswalk with the ramp free so that people can walk through and back to the field where kids could play on the field while parents shop, etc. This is a contained space that kids and parents are used to using, and is close to where the original market was.
Pros:
1) In town
2) has space for recreation
3) enough parking for Vendors and others.
4) Bikes and walking are definitely easy for this location.
5) The Fire department is close for emergencies and the CVS is close for additional shopping needs for customers and vendors.
6) other local cafés, coffee shops, and smoothie shops, as well as ice cream are right around the corner.
This location would make it feel much more like a local town market that we can all easily access, in town once a week.
The hardest part now is connecting with Greenwich town parking authority and CVS parking to get permission to use these extra lots for four hours, once a week, approximately June 17 through November.
Can you help facilitate this? Please call your Greenwich Selectpeople, CVS, Greenwich Parking Authority and ask for this solution. Thank you! 🙏
