Petition updateKeep the Israeli Embassy in New Zealand"...the silence of our friends"

Martin Luther King Jr once said, "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." Now, more than ever, Israel needs her friends to stand up for what is just and right. Israel is bracing for yet another onslaught from the International Peace Conference in Paris set for January 15th. The six “principles” secretary Kerry laid out in his recent speech (including negotiations on the 1967-lines and a Jerusalem as the capital of two states) could be adopted at the conference. If so, France or Sweden could then propose another resolution to the UN Security Council. The ramifications for Israel would be devastating. Their small nation would be left with indefensible borders, suffer ethnic cleansing of all Jews from their historic homelands of Judea and Samaria, and be forced to share their capital city with a sworn enemy. So far as New Zealand is concerned, the Israeli Embassy must remain open for us to begin restoring the trust that Mr. McCully has severely damaged.
