Last night after a passionate public forum and in opposition to many voices in the community, Queens Community Board 9 voted to recommend a “seasonal opening” of Freedom Drive to vehicular traffic. This is a devastating blow to the over 600 of us (a majority of whom is represented by the community board) who want Freedom Drive Car Free. This is just a recommendation and the decision is up to the Parks Department, DOT, and local leaders. I urge all of you to please contact them to express your disappointment and disagreement with this decision. You can find their emails on the “Decision Makers” section of the petition.
