The Ongoing Battle - Keeping Sherpa At Joann’s

Hello y’all, it’s Jessie here. After 200+ signatures, we have a very minimal update from Jenna. Please, keep sharing and spreading the word about Sherp.

Below is the update from Jenna.

“Today was my 4th shift having to leave Sherpa home. I was able to drive home during a meal break to feed and check on her, but only because we were given extra hours so I could schedule another manager to cover my break. Normally I’m able to leave her home for a few hours and she will play quietly in my room or sleep, but when I tried to leave after feeding her, she scratched at the door and cried, so I had to request the help of one of my roommates to calm her down in my absence.

One of the things HR told me they fear from having my dog at work is that it would cause me to be distracted from my job—what they refuse to take into account is that it’s far more distracting to leave her home, constantly having to check my phone for missed calls or texts from my friends who are caring for her while I’m at work.

As a rescue dog who was abandoned many years ago, leaving her home for these long periods of time has also caused her to relapse into destructive anxious habits she hasn’t suffered from in at least a year. If I’m unable to bring Sherpa to work again, I can’t sustainably continue working for this store.”
