When we were doing research about keeping parks in Toronto safe for everyone, we came across 'Paws for Parks' - an organization based mainly in High Park that "promotes responsible pet-walking practices in public parks". We connected with the group and got some great information about how to take steps to keep our park safe, and learned a bit about how other parks in Toronto are dealing with the issue. Someone shared this article with us from August - it notes that dog attacks in Toronto are up 39% from the previous year, and gave some details, including a boy who was mauled by an off-leash dog in Oakwood village and a woman who was mauled in East York. Sad to read but hopefully the city can start to take action. Read more here:

Lastly - we currently have about 230 signatures of our petition, and are getting ready to present it to Councillor Ausma Malik and Mayor Chow. Stay tuned and stay involved as we move forward to get support to make the park safe for all.
