To: Councillor Sean Anstee - Leader of Trafford Council

Road safety has always been the responsibility of the Local Council.

School Crossing Patrols in Trafford are employed by the Council to ensure our children can get to and from school safely.

It is proposed by the Council that from next September School Crossing Patrols in Trafford are paid for directly by our schools.

This is taking money out of our children's education budget and passing responsibility for the safe passage of our children over roads to and from school from the Council to schools right across Trafford at a time when school budgets are already very stretched. 

Schools will have to make the difficult choice of deciding whether they can afford the service of a School Crossing Patrol(s) whilst the Council absolves itself of its responsibility for Road Safety all in the name of saving money.

It cannot be right that saving money is more of a priority and more important than road safety and the safety of our children.

We call upon Cllr Anstee Leader of the Council to drop these proposals from the Council Budget for next year and future years.
