Hey guys! Quick update... I emailed Andy Pruitt (the Director of Communications at CCSD), and he’s sharing this petition with their security team. I’m sure they’ll be so pleased to know that our community stands behind them and (more people than not) would be extremely disappointed to see them go. SRO’s not only are the first line of defense if there is a school shooting, but they also play an integral role in our children’s education. They do community outreach, talks on ‘stranger danger’ (and what to do in those situations), assist in active shooter drills, and tornado/earthquake drills, safety plan development, etc. They are so important in so many ways! We’ve reached nearly 1000 signatures with 24 hours! That’s amazing! Please continue to spread the word and let’s work together to “KEEP Safety Resource Officers in Charleston Schools!”
