Regarding Riverview East closing:
First policy states that if a curriculum change is to take place it must be voted on by the board. This has not happened yet, and our board member has said that a vote does not need to happen (She looked into it). This is a violation of the open meetings act.
Second policy states that all students who fit the standards to enroll at an alternative highschool will be enrolled as long as there is space available. Our board member has stated that Riverview East is closing because of low enrollment, but districts through out the county are no longer allowing students to transfer so that they can keep they're own funding up. This is also a violation of board policies.
We need to stand up for this school & for the students who are in dire need of it. Please sign the petition if you haven't already and share :)
