I wanted to clarify a couple things with everyone. The district is closing the school. They will be turning it into a program at some highschools, but not because of funding since it was part of the bond to keep it open. It's because of the low numbers of students they have enrolling in the school. The reason of that being districts across St. Clair County are denying kids the opportunity to go there, so they can keep up their own numbers. (For funding)
Secondly they say it's in best interest of the students. Well for everyone who went there we know that it was in our best interest to go there, and one of the best opportunities we were given throughout our education. This school is vital to the community and cannot be turned into a program. One of our board members have already stated that Riverview East staff are not happy with this transition and parents are coming out and saying their children are coming home crying with the news, so who is this in the best interest for?
Let's continue to stand up for the children in this county and keep this amazing school open!!
