AUGUST 1, 2017 - Campus Reform Keith Fink who was recently ousted from UCLA's Department of Communication Studies after locking horns with the administration, has now initiated the formal grievance process with the university alleging that UCLA "blatantly and brazenly" violated rules governing its treatment of faculty members, disregarding his rights in an effort to secure a negative outcome in the "excellence review" that decided his fate. The grievance further alleges political discrimination and disregard of UCLA's safeguards for academic freedom. Examples of rules violated include Department Chair Kerri Johnson's orchestration of an improperly-conducted excellence review, the impropriety of Vice Chair Greg Bryant conducting and preparing a classroom evaluation, and former Interim Dean of Social Sciences Laura Gomez' failure to appropriately intervene both throughout the botched review and after being called upon to resolve a deadlocked vote.
