Petition updateOpen Letter to UCLA Administrators: Keep Professor Fink at UCLA!Professor Fink's Fate to be Decided by Biased Dean Laura Gómez

Keep Professor Fink at UCLAPacific Palisades, CA, United States
May 22, 2017
As reported by the Daily Wire, Communication Studies Department Chair Kerri Johnson was unable to convince enough of her colleagues that Professor Fink fell short of "excellent," leaving the decision in the hands of the Laura Gómez, UCLA's Interim Dean of Social Sciences.
As Dean Laura Gómez was identified as biased towards Fink at the outset of the excellence review process, this serves as further indicia of Fink's excellence review being rigged against him from its conception. While one can hope that Dean Laura Gómez, a lawyer who has taught at UCLA's Law School, could serve as an impartial arbiter of departmental deadlock, her neutrality is far from guaranteed.
Dean Laura Gómez is biased for the same reason Kerri Johnson is biased: they've been working together on eradicating Professor Fink from the outset. Her and her staff never once proactively stepped in to correct any one of the myriad of procedural flaws that occurred throughout his review.
Dean Laura Gómez' political leanings are also cause for concern: she donated at least $1,000 to Hillary for America in 2015, and her views are widely evident in her work as Dean. She's repeatedly promulgated messages sympathizing with leftist and progressive causes, often bashing the competing viewpoints on the right. She's even offered faculty members several thousand dollars to teach mini-courses about President Trump, but granted funding for them in a seemingly viewpoint-discriminatory manner as each course is predicated on the assumption that a Trump Presidency is ipso-facto awful for our country. No funding was given for a course that, say, was titled "America is Great: Trump Will Make it Greater."
