Despite the freezing temperatures, Lankenau remains motivated to stay open. Under the leadership of Stand Up for Philly Schools, partners, parents, students, and staff from Lankenau Environmental Science Magnet High School rallied on the steps of the School District offices to oppose the proposed closure of their campus. The rally preceded the first school board meeting since the plan was announced.
Several students addressed the crowd outside before venturing inside the district offices to officially lodge their complaints. At the meeting students Leeshawn Lucas and Cecelia Henderson addressed their concerns directly to the board, citing the importance of being in the woods to Lankenau's core mission and current success.
Representative Tarik Khan also came and spoke on behalf of Lankenau. You can watch the board meeting here.
