Motivation has been saved. The district has decided not to close Motivation HS. The district's new recommendation is to merge Paul Robeson HS into Motivation.
Thank you so much for your support and advocacy. We could not have done it without you.
We are extremely proud of our students who exercised their rights to speak out and showed their abilities.
We would also like to thank the district for listening to the passionate cries of our community.
Thank you to our elected officials: PA House Speaker Joanna McClinton, State Senator Anthony Hardy Williams, Councilmember Jamie Gauthier, and the rest of the City Council for your support and advocacy.
Motivation may have been saved, but our fight is not over. We ask that you support our brothers and sisters at other schools like Paul Robeson, Lankenau, Parkway Northwest, Parkway West, Blankenburg, Tilden, and others. All of these schools should remain open. Our neighborhood high schools, like Bartram and Sayre, deserve full funding and investment.
As we have demonstrated in our victory, the district has used poor, ill-advised judgment in these recommendations and broke the enrollment process. Demand they fix it.
Please sign these petitions to Stand Up for Philly Schools.
Please continue to demand that the school board and elected officials support these schools.
Continue to show up at community meetings and School Board meetings.
We ask you specifically to fight for Paul Robeson High School. Robeson is an excellent school with exceptional students and a strong staff. Robeson's building has been targeted by developers for well over a decade. Greedy developers have wanted to gentrify the black and brown students of Robeson out of University City. We say no!
Robeson deserves a new building, and we stand with them in their fight.
