4,000 Strong — Keep Lake Ontario

We have now reached 4,000 signatures.

Four thousand people have added their names to the call to preserve the historic name Lake Ontario and oppose the proposed use of “Lake America.” What began as a petition has become a substantial public response.

This milestone also comes as the United States heads toward the 2026 midterm elections in November, when every House seat and roughly one-third of the Senate will be contested. 

This issue does not need to belong to one political party. As the midterms approach, voters can ask candidates and elected representatives from both parties where they stand on the future of Lake Ontario’s historic name and on the process that should be required before longstanding geographic names are changed.
