I have upcoming meetings with our federal lawmakers to discuss passing federal legislation that would mandate a 3-mile safety buffer zone between ICE detention centers and all K-12 schools nationwide.

I will be meeting with Representative Paul Gosar (R) on March 10, and with Senator Ruben Gallego’s (D) immigration/ homeland security advisor on March 16. I have also been in contact with Senator Mark Kelly’s (D) office and I’m waiting for them to schedule a meeting with me as soon as he becomes available.

It is extremely important that you call or send a message to Senator Mark Kelly, Senator Ruben Gallego, and Representative Paul Gosar to urge them to support this 3-mile safety buffer zone. Student safety is a bipartisan issue. Ask them to work together to protect school communities not only in Arizona, but across the country. No child should be scared walking to and from school.
