Keep Homegrown in Wellington
The issue
For the last 18 years, Wellington has played host to the incomparable HOMEGROWN MUSIC FESTIVAL. Selling out year after year, celebrating and showcasing local talent, and bringing in millions of dollars to the city's economy, as well as our wider cultural economy, it is part of what makes Wellington known as the cultural capital of Aotearoa, and the coolest little capital in the world.
I strongly believe it should stay that way; moving the festival to another city would leave a gaping hole in our lovely little city's atmosphere, especially in such a time as now, when Wellington is going through arguably its toughest time in decades in so many ways.
Losing Homegrown will feel like losing a piece of our reputation for celebrating music and the arts, as well as the money that it brings in for local businesses from our of town.
Wellingtonians: please sign this petition, and KEEP HOMEGROWN IN WELLINGTON so that we can keep the musical heartbeat of Wellington going, through the biggest celebration of kiwi talent and artistry across the motu.
