Twenty-five thousand consumers have come together with one simple message:
Our food should be free of fiberglass!
When we launched this campaign, we knew most people had never heard of fiberglass-containing release sheets used on some commercial fast food clamshell grills. But we also believed that once consumers learned about it, they would demand greater transparency and safer alternatives.
That's exactly what's happened.
Because of your support, this issue is no longer flying under the radar.
We're already seeing encouraging signs that the industry is listening. Chipotle has transitioned to fiberglass-free release sheets for the new clamshell grills it's rolling out, and Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has announced that it is working with its grill manufacturer to explore fiberglass-free alternatives.
Those are important steps forward, but our work isn't finished.
Many quick-service restaurants continue to use fiberglass-containing release sheets, and consumers still deserve greater transparency about the materials used to prepare their food.
