Councillors are due to vote tomorrow evening(30th Jan) for the Draft Local Plan(Reg 18) to proceed. Click on this link for meeting agenda and Appendix 2 and 4 which contains the Draft Local Plan. Unfortunately public are not allowed to ask any questions on Local Plan, Green Belt or environment for tomorrow's meeting.
In addition, out of 5,400 new homes proposed in the Draft Local Plan, some 2,175 homes (almost 41%) are earmarked to be built on the borough’s precious Green Belt land, and 0 is allocated to Kiln Lane/Longmead brownfield lands.
Central Government is due to publish a new NPPF with strong protection on Green Belt, and to remove the mandatory housing target. Given the substantial policy update, at least 19 Councils have paused or withdrew their current Local Plan. EEBC seems determined to proceed with its Green Belt Development First approach.
If you live around Epsom, please come and meet us at 6:45pm tomorrow evening(30th Jan), in front of the back entrance(car park side) of the Epsom Town Hall. We will greet Councillors as they walk into the meeting.
