Last night the government announced an excellent news that the outdated and mandatory housing targets are finally abandoned, therefore Epsom & Ewell Borough Council should immediately working on removing any Green Belt development from the Preferred Options of the Regulation 18 Draft Local Plan.

However, sadly our pleas fell on deaf ears. There has been no sign of change, therefore we fear that we are going to see Downs Farm and other Green Belt to be on the Draft Local Plan on 1st February, which will send the wrong signal to more developers/landowners offering their Green Belt lands to be concreted over. And once it is out on the Draft Local Plan, it will be very challenging to get the decision over-turned. We need to stop this, right now! Please write to the EEBC Councilors and Planning Officers to call for immediate removal of Downs Farm and other Green Belt sites from Preferred Sites for development(full list here: https://epsomgreenbelt.org/who-to-object/).
