I would like to thank everyone for lending their time and voice to this petition a couple weeks ago. Since starting this, I have had many city officials including the Mayor and Police Captain of the SE district reach out to me to discuss both short term and long term solutions for not only us, but other businesses in the city that have been experiencing similar issues.
The patrol officers stationed downtown have been very proactive and responsive in helping us prevent dangerous incidents these past few weeks as well, we went from seeing one almost every day to having a 2-week streak of no issues, which is not normal for us.
This is not a closed case or a done deal. The issue of disruptive and dangerous individuals plaguing the operations of local ground-level businesses is not one that is so easily solved in the long term. I started this petition as a way to bring this problem into a imminent and urgent conversation, and I believe, thanks to all of the support from everyone who has signed, shared, and lent their voices to this, that this petition has accomplished that goal.
I will be closing this as a result, and continuing to coordinate with local businesses, city officials, and others to do whatever I can to help in making this a safer city for everyone, including those with nowhere else to go.
Thank you
