LSUHSC Campus Police officers were informed that employment to a majority of officers would be cut by 70%.  This cut will take away ANY police presence within UH.  All security responsibilities will be handled by a private entity.  ALL University Police officers are police academy trained and commissioned by the state possessing full authority to make arrest. Officers are employed by the Department of Public Safety who perform duties in a hospital and university environment. The presence of these officers are valuable because the safety of every medical student, staff member, patient, and visitor are important for the community as a whole.  I am one of these officers affected by this decision, which ultimately affects other individuals and their families.  All who are employed in these positions selflessly perform their duties to the best of their ability with "ONE" common goal in mind: PUBLIC SAFETY FOR ALL!!!!!!
