Greetings to our lovely neighbors,
I hope everyone had a chance to get some sunshine today! Some sunlight was certainly useful in bringing light to the ANC process at todays hearing with the board of zoning. The board made it clear that the previous ANC resolution could not be accepted. This has opened a real opportunity for our community to be heard. The board has decided to postpone a decision until after the ANC meeting. As the board stated, "the decision of the ANC will bear great weight". Now is a real opportunity to make sure that your elected representative votes in a way that is progressive and brings real benefit to the community.
ANC 4B07 Commissioner Michael Cohen has arranged a survey which has been spreading through the neighborhood. It addresses the building @ 1st & Kennedy St., as well as the potential for a library on Kennedy Street!
Please take a moment to fill out the survey here: https://cohen4b07.us21.list-manage.com/track/click?u=aa86588dcbdc90441e4b453e2&id=c17a411b93&e=4cd9e5fbe2
In other news, some of the ANC have been seen posting about the building on 1st & Kennedy St. in the wild. Recent comments on nextdoor sparked some conversation. Additionally, today a comment was seen from Commisioner Johnson (on reddit) here: https://www.reddit.com/r/washingtondc/comments/1cc2623/comment/l134qmz/
Perhaps an outpouring of community can help influence her decision.
All of us need to reach out to our ANC rep, making it clear that we desire them to vote against support for the waiver.
The contact information for the ANC can be found here: https://anc.dc.gov/page/advisory-neighborhood-commission-4b
Keep on keeping Kennedy Street Beautiful!
PS: Fill out the ANC survey! This is a great tool to show our real support!
