In the first day alone, 26 people took a stand to protect our lakes. Each signature strengthens this effort to defend what most of humanity can only wish for — clean, living water. Thank you for being part of the beginning.
Of all the water on Earth, only 2 to 3 percent is freshwater — the kind that sustains people, animals, and ecosystems. More than 97 percent is saltwater, and even within that small freshwater fraction, less than one percent is accessible for human use.
Canada carries one of the greatest responsibilities on Earth. It holds about 20 percent of the planet’s total freshwater resources and roughly 7 percent of its renewable supply. The health of these lakes and rivers is not just a Canadian concern; it is a global trust.
Yet this trust is being quietly disturbed. Cremation ashes, though often seen as harmless, contain salts, heavy metals, and compounds that raise water alkalinity and disrupt oxygen levels and aquatic life. This is not belief; it is proven science.
To harm these waters, even unintentionally, is to damage a system that sustains billions.
This is not about belief or culture. It is about protecting what keeps the planet alive.
Please add your voice and share this petition today. When only two percent of the world’s water sustains all life, protecting Canada’s share is not kindness; it is duty.
