COMMUNITY BOARD 1 SIGNED THE LETTER OPPOSING THE BUBBLE - but this is just the beginning

Hi everyone,

Before anything else, thank you. Thank you to everyone who came out to support your community. Thank you to everyone who held a sign. Thank you to everyone who shared our posts. Thank you to everyone who already emailed their reps. Whatever part you played, big or small, it mattered, and we see you.

Because of all of you, we have an update, and it's a good one: Community Board 1 voted to send an official letter to NYC Parks opposing the tennis bubble.

At last week's meeting, over 100 people showed up, most of them there because of you. 31 community members stood up and spoke against the bubble. Not one person spoke in favor. We watched the board spend 45 minutes in real, thoughtful deliberation before voting to formally tell Parks they oppose privatizing our courts.

We want to sit in this win for a moment, because you earned it. But this is one small victory, not the finish line. NYC Parks isn't required to listen to CB1's letter, and this proposal is still very much alive. What actually moves Parks is pressure from our elected officials, and right now, we need our local representatives to send their own letters of opposition too.
