Hello Dear friends of Keep Anclote River Park safe. I am Dillon Rich, a small group of Pasco County residents and I have kept up a persistent effort to the preservation of Anclote River Park as is . For those who are not aware Anclote River Park is a home to Native American heritage site the tocobaga temple mound 8PA0010. Anclote River Park is due to have a park remodel along with plans to build a restaurant with water sport rentals, boat excursions, floating docks, and space for live entertainment.  This would cause overcrowding and create a hostile environment for our wildlife by increasing litter pollution and commotion. This is the antithesis of parkland and certainly sacred ceremonial land, not how it should be respected.
The Florida mounds stand as a testament to the rich and enduring history of Native American civilizations. These ancient structures are not just archaeological sites; they are a living connection to indigenous ancestors and an integral part of cultural legacy. Thanks to Florida American Indian Movement and Florida Indigenous Alliance, we were fortunate enough to have them host indigenous peoples day event  at Anclote River Park where indigenous prayer was led to show importance to this sacred site. Despite having the event, Pasco County still ignores all cultural significance of this site and still plans to move forward with development. It’s important that the treaties set forth in the United States constitution are upheld by federal, state and county government. To protect these sacred places there are federal laws set in place like Native American Grave repatriation Act. We are looking to raise funds to help put together a proper legal council to protect the park that would additionally cover travel and lodging . Another way  the money would be used to help our group organize community events that educate and involve the public, such as guided tours of the park that emphasize its cultural importance, and fundraising events like charity runs or concerts. Horse Nation Society plans to come all the way to Florida to do a prayer ride and we would like to also help raise funds to pay for horse feed and hay to help support them in the time they are here. We are more than grateful for any assistance provided as we keep working together to preserve this site.
Thank you.
