Because of you, we may just get to keep 11th Street a little bit longer.

Over two weeks in late April, more than 40 community members helped us host and personally invite every Houston City Councilmember to see 11th Street for themselves.

The result? Six councilmembers—including Abbie Kamin, Mario Castillo, Edward Pollard, Letticia Plummer, Twila Carter, and Julian Ramirez—engaged on the ground, either by co-hosting the 11th Street Community Listening Session (CM Kamin & Castillo) or joining us for community-led walking tours.

Residents, advocates, and small business owners shared their lived experiences, showing how this award-winning $2.4M safety project has made daily life safer, more connected, and more vibrant.

Since then, staffers from multiple offices have told us the same thing: the push to reverse these safety upgrades is losing steam. The conversation is shifting from “Should they stay?” to “How can we make them even better?”

That’s thanks to you—your love for 11th Street, your presence at events, and the dozens of local businesses that stand for a safer, people-first corridor.

But we can’t let our guard down. Other communities, like the East End, are now facing similar threats to their safe street projects.

Together, we’re proving that when Houstonians show up, we can keep our streets safe—and make them even better.
