Yup. If every Ontarian gave the government 7 cents, you could buy Wilderness Discovery for their $866,000 asking price and have money left over. Less than 7 cents per person. Now, correct me if I'm wrong. Don't you already own that property? Isn't it your right as a voter and taxpayer to tell them that you don't want it sold out from under the disabled children, seniors, veterans, and families that Wilderness Discovery helps?
Then, tell them and keep telling them! We can do this! Whenever the petition is signed, that signature is forwarded to the inbox of Kathleen Wynne, Bill Mauro, and Michael Gravelle. Have they said how they feel about HAGI's camp? I haven't heard a thing. They represent you. Get them to commit. You have. Tell them you want this camp saved once and for all and to fix this problem for good. Everyone's good.
Some of you have donated on the petition site with the red "PROMOTE THIS PETITION" button. We need more of you to do that. It has a real tangible impact in actual signers. I've been told the possible closure of the camp has upset many on Lake Shebandowan. I'm aware that the Staals of the NHL are neighbors of the camp. Do they know about this? If you know someone at the Staal Foundation, please alert them. My correspondence has gone unanswered. Their influence could be enormously helpful.
Please continue to share this with your friends and members of your churches and groups. Talk with your families. I think schoolchildren would love to help motivate the petition drive. They love to help and are too often unheard. They could make a HUGE difference in their classrooms. Talk to your teachers and classmates.
The lease for the camp has expired and is extended only on a month-to-month basis. The sale could be done at any time. Don't let the sun set on Wilderness Discovery this September for the last time. Please act with the urgency and conviction your community needs. Thank you again for all your passion and assistance. I can't even come close to telling you how much it lifts my soul.
