LGBT+ questioning group for young teens

The Issue

Many young individuals question their sexuality and gender identity. There should be a support group for these young teens that lets them talk to other LGBT+ teens, LGBT+ young adults, and/or trusted adults (such as teachers) who know what they’re going through or could possibly help them cope with or identify their sexuality, as well as make friends with other LGBT+ youth and stand stronger together as a whole. Things that would happen during group meetings:

1) Help with how to come out to a homophobic/transphobic/normal family

2) How to cope with/help understanding their sexuality and/or gender

3) Making friends and meeting others in the same situation

4) Suicide help/support

5) Mental problems help

Having a group such as this would help take away the stress of day to day life, keeping everything you’re thinking about and questioning inside. As someone who is bullied, panromantic, asexual, and gender questioning, I think this is an amazing idea.

This would be an after school program, and the length of each meeting/days that the members meet varies. This is specifically targeted at smaller schools in the state of Oregon, one example, Oaklea Middle School. While having excellent staff, a lot of things go over their heads or go unnoticed bullying wise. I, am one of the several eighth graders who is out, for example. A group like this may also encourage LGBT+ teenagers to come out, and not worry as much about it. There should be one group like this per county.
