A huge Choultry/Convention Center is under construction on the buffer zone of Puttenahalli Lake in Bangalore South under pin code 560078. The designated entrance is right through the Lake land.

  Despite several attempts by the residents to bring it to the notice of various officials including 'House Committee on Encroachment of Tanks, Karnataka Legislative Assembly' in May 2016, followed by letters to various other government agencies, nothing seems to be happening except a visit by one of the agencies.

  The choultry builders have now cleverly started building a temple on the buffer zone, this in addition to the massive 4 to 5 thousand capacity choultry or convention center as may be called. It is obvious that the intention of the temple is to ensure that the illegal entrance to the choultry is protected in the guise of having a temple there.

The noise and disturbances are bound to destroy the bird life which is slowly beginning to make its way back. We have seen how another such choultry is already driving away the birds in the nearby park.

  While the people who look after the lake and enjoy the environs fear this encroachment and the noise the choultry will create in terms of loud band, fire crackers etc., the residents fear the unimaginable increase of traffic at the junction that is already a nightmare to negotiate.

  We request the government to take cognizance of the situation and act quickly to stop this unwanted structure which will benefit the few greedy but leave the mass in constant distress forever. All our efforts seems to have fallen on deaf ears and eyes, thus leaving us wondering if there is law of the land at all!!
