We are extremely concerned about the omnibus bills the GOP has put forward, as they underfund essential services like education, health care, the justice system, and transit. We should not take money away from these important services, especially to then give tax cuts to the wealthy. Like most Minnesotans, we want our government to support and protect our people, our civic institutions, and our environment. The GOP versions of the omnibus bills are not consistent with these values.

In addition, we are alarmed by the secretive processes the GOP has been employing. Policy provisions have been slipped into finance bills, provisions which have never been introduced or heard in committee. Not only is this undemocratic, it is unconstitutional. It violates the Single Subject Clause (Article IV, Section 17) of the Minnesota Constitution.

We expect you and your party to legislate in an honest, open manner. We expect you to negotiate with Governor Dayton in good faith. We respectfully ask for an honest explanation of how your votes serve our district and the people of Minnesota. We look forward to your responses to these concerns.
