Hello, everyone,

Thank you very much to everyone who has signed the petition thus far, has supported us, and helped get this petition into the hands of other people. We delivered a formal petition including names and comments, as well as our demands, to Member of Parliament (MP) Frank Caputo this past week. The timing of this was intentional, as Canadian MPs are heading into Parliament on Monday for a momentous opportunity. On Monday, March 18th, Canadian MPs will have the opportunity to vote on a motion put forth by the New Democratic Party (NDP) on their Opposition Day. Public pressure and support, such as what you have shown by signing and sharing this petition, contacting your elected representatives, and applying economic/political pressure, are what have afforded us this opportunity. While it is ultimately the power of the people - namely, Palestinians - that will free Palestine, this is a unique opportunity to shift Canadian politics and aid the cause in any way we can. If you are a Canadian, you can see our excerpt on this opportunity below to learn more. You can also follow @CJPME to find more ways to get involved as well as resources. If you are outside of Canada, I invite you to research what other actions are happening in your area in the world. In the words of Jenan Matari, "It's Ceasefire, then lift the siege, then end the occupation, then free Palestine."

> There is a nationwide call to action. On March 18th, Members of Parliament will be voting on an NDP Opposition Day Motion on the Situation in Gaza. This is a unique opportunity in that MPs will be directly responsible for voting on the motion and cannot claim that actions are out of their control. To learn more and to call on MP Caputo to take decisive action in Parliament, check out these resources:  Action Network, CJPME, and Justice for All Canada.
