Johnson/Talanda Family Cottage UPDATE

Thanks to each of you for your continued support as our family fights to keep our family cottage on Gordneck Lake!
LATEST UPDATE:
A couple of weeks ago, the Kalamazoo County Commissioners voted to move forward with condemnation, to take our family's cottage even though they have no basis to do so and absolutely NO public need for our 1/3 of an acre inside Prairie View Park, a park of over 200 acres! This vote came after the newly appointed Board of Commissioners reached out to our family and expressed that they were opposed to condemnation, giving us a false hope that this fight would soon end in our favor!
Last week, Judge Curtis Bell ruled in our family's favor, denying the County's motion for an immediate transfer of ownership to the County based on a strained reading of the Uniform Condemnation and Procedures. While this is a victory for our family, the battle is not over. The County is continuing its despicable pursuit to acquire our family's private property through condemnation.

Write and call your Kalamazoo County Commissioner and express your disgust for their actions. The County Commissioners and their attorneys should represent the PEOPLE of KALAMAZOO COUNTY. The more they hear from the public in support of our family, the better!
We are sincerely grateful that so many of you continue to express your concern, reach out, and communicate with the local government on our behalf. Thank you!
