In October 2015 the UN health body, the World Health Organisation (WHO) certified processed meats as a Group 1 carcinogen, the same group as tobacco and plutonium, due to evidence of links to bowel cancer among other diseases.

Two years later and processed meat is still be served to children in schools and this is unacceptable. Our children's health must be the only thing that comes above education and no amount of profit lost or affordability should be an excuse to continue to serve food that once consumed, causes harm.

We expect an official banning of all processed meat in schools.
