STOP Airbnb from turning residential neighborhoods into commercialized nightly motels!

This petition is to help all of our families in a single-family residential zone feel safe again in their Town of Huntington neighborhood. AirBnB, that offers nightly rentals, is having a huge impact on families like mine. So many Towns have come together recently to change their laws to stop this new problem. Southampton, East Hampton, Riverhead, Smithtowm and many more ! We have residential neighborhoods to feel comfortable and safe to raise our families and be outdoors with the comfort of knowing the people in your neighborhood. With AirBnB, how can you know who is in the House next to you ? Renting rooms by the night can attract all kinds of people.
Check out Airbnb.com. Anyone can rent a room or enjoy a person's backyard for a small fee in a area that is for families and children who want to feel safe and confident knowing who their neighbors are! Recently the Hamptons found this home business inappropriate. Why would it be ok in the Town of Huntington ?
Let’s get this Town code to change and begin to feel safe and confident in our neighborhood once again ! Please sign this petition to help be a part of this important movement to stop transient rentals where they do not belong ! Hotels and motels are not for Residential areas !!! Airbnb should not be in the Town of Huntington! If it is not permitted in other Towns nearby then let’s face it, Huntington will be full of nightly rentals since it’s the only place it’s allowed ! Sign below before your neighbor legally decides to rent-out rooms by the night like mine did. You don't want to be in that position. Please help!
We have already met with two of the four Town Council members and we plan on meeting with the others. The movement has already begun.....let's come together as a Community to do what is best for all of our families!
