As we observe another annual commercial seal hunt happen within Canada and the lack of attention from the Canadian Government and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the issues and concerns that this industry brings --- we as international support to end the commercial seal hunt, are motivated further to see the imperative change that needs to take place.
This year, 2018, we have observed more worldwide unity --and even witnessed the country of India taking part by banning the import of seal skins, another blow to this sealing industry, apparently making it the 37th country to ban such trade (seal skins and other products of commercial seal hunt).
Although to some this may seem like not much of a difference, considering that India has never really been a market for such products -- so really how can it be a blow to the sealing industry? well from what we gather, the commercial sealing industry within Canada appears to be counting upon the development of alternative markets to boost the demand for such products -- and with India now joining the other nations who are refusing to buy, this just takes away another international market in the sealing industry's sights.
It is imperative to know as well, that along with the groups/organizations that deal with animal rights/welfare aiding in the fight, and the spreading of this necessary and important message --- it is also the voices and actions of the people around the globe that is helping make the difference as well -- whether it be with emailing, letter writing, phone calls, taking active roles in campaigns and protests, or even just sharing within the sources of social media. Every little step made gets us closer to the goal that we aim to achieve, to save/protect the innocent lives of sentient beings from the inhumanity and cruelty that is inflicted and victimizes them.
More individuals, like yourselves, and even youths are becoming more involved in helping make the change , many even joining the ranks of protest and campaigning, in order to have their voices heard, instead of being ignored. We believe that such ambition and determination is an aspect that can truly pave the way to further extend the reach of the message in urging the Canadian Government to do what needs to be done.
If we as humanity can unite, by the millions, to help save dogs/cats from the cruel and horrific meat trade that is occurring --- then we should be able to do the same for all innocent life that is being victimized --- and we can demonstrate that our voices in numbers are strong and that we all want to see a difference and change made.
Let's Unite to #SaveTheSeals --- Go the distance to make the difference needed.
