One more week before Standard Time comes to Eastern Provinces

Dear Standard Time Supporters
One more week and we finally fall back to Standard Time. Unfortunately for Canadians, the Western provinces BC, Alberta and recently Manitoba have made a decision to stay permanently on DST. Saskatchewan had made that decision years ago. It’s already becoming harder to wake in the morning and not seeing daylight until after 7 am. As we get closer to the winter equinox, the sun will rise at a much later time. Depending on how far north you are, you may not see sunrise until closer to 9 or even later. I find this time of year difficult, feeling more and more tired. I am so looking forward to waking at the correct time for the time zone I’m in and not an hour early every morning.
There was to be a mock parliamentary committee initiated by MP Marie-France Lalonde to discuss this topic and have experts provide their insights. Unfortunately it has been cancelled. She had introduced legislation in the House of Commons to have a conference and consultation regarding ending clock changes. She wanted formal input from experts on sleep and circadian rhythms to provide their evidence showing the harm done by clock changes and staying on DST. I hope that she will be successful and we won’t have to spring forward just over 4 months from now.
All the best to everyone.
Irene
