Hi Standard Time supporters:

I was dismayed to read that the BC Government decided to permanently switch to Daylight Saving Time.  They are making their population wake up an hour early all year long. In Winter, kids will be waiting for their school bus in the dark since sunrise won’t be until well after 8 am.  In December the sun won’t come up until 9 am, 9:30 for those slightly farther north.  

The farther West people live in BC, the worse it will be.  They will have eliminated a time zone, staying permanently at UTC-7.  This is a complete mismatch to the actual geography of Canada.  

It is too late to stop the move to DST on March 8, but I hope that the Federal Government will bring the provinces together and coordinate to not only stop the time changes, but move to standard time across Canada. 

Standard Time is aligned to the sun and to how our circadian rhythms are aligned.  Provincial Governments should not be imposing permanent jet lag and perpetual early waking on Canadians.

Please continue promoting the House of Commons petition.  Hopefully it will make a difference.
