Last year, MPs from all the opposition parties in Parliament did a much-too-rare thing – they worked together and supported Bill C-290, which was introduced by a Bloc MP, and contains several measures that strengthen the federal law that protects federal government employees who blow the whistle on wrongdoing.
The federal Integrity Commissioner, who investigates complaints filed by whistleblowers, has also called for more funding to deal with a growing number of complaints. Click here to see CBC's article for details.
Bill C-290 has made it through the House of Commons, and is now being considered by the Senate for approval, and the government is considering the Integrity Commissioner's request for more funding. We need your help now to keep the pressure on all federal party leaders and Senators to approve Bill C-290, and to give the Integrity Commissioner adequate funding.
