Unfortunately, the federal Commissioner of Lobbying, and the House Ethics Committee, weakened key rules in the Lobbyists' Code a few months ago to allow lobbyists to fundraise and campaign for politicians and political party leaders, and then lobby them at the same time or soon afterwards.

We tried to stop the weakening of the rules with your support, and by organizing a coalition of more 26 citizen groups and 41 lawyers and law and ethics professors from across Canada.  Click here for details.

Also unfortunately, Ontario's Integrity Commissioner continued to fail to enforce the ethics rules in Ontario's lobbying law, and the Commissioner's weak enforcement in part caused the Greenbelt scandal as lobbyists for property developers fundraised and lobbied for the Ford Cabinet in secret.
