The PHight or Flight Project
Sep 20, 2016
Yesterday we finally hit 500 signatures. This is a big accomplishment considering how rare pulmonary hypertension is. It can be very difficult to get people engaged in being proactive for pulmonary hypertension. The word 'hypertension' leads the average person to believe that PH is less serious than it actually is. Thank you for sharing your reasons as to why this petition is important to you. I have gone through and read every single one of them. It is nice to hear from fellow #PHighters, and other Canadians who simply think it is wrong that these medications aren't accessible to us. Many of the comments sound like they are supporting a recently diagnosed 10 year old living in Canada. If you know her or her family, please let them know that my thoughts are with her and her family. It sounds like she has an amazing army of support behind her! I have e-mailed several Government officials, many of which have forwarded my e-mail to the Ministry of Health. I have also heard from Kathleen Wynne, the Premier of Ontario. Unfortunately, her reply left a lot to be desired. I will keep trying to get someone to take notice, because our voices deserved to be heard. Our lives matter. To encourage more officials, leaders and those in charge of change, please continue to share it and ask your friends to sign as well. You can even e-mail your local MPP, your provincial Premiere, and our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about this petition, and the concerns it raises. Imagine what they would do if over 500 people e-mailed them about patients with pulmonary hypertension deserve access to all of the available treatment options? Thanks again for all the support.
