So I have been working hard and emailing our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and our Premiere of Ontario Kathleen Wynne about removing the ridiculous Pit Bull ban.
Justin Trudeau's office emailed back basically saying that this type of matter is not handled at the federal government level. They also can not offer any further assistance at the time.
Kathleen Wynne emailed me back today. Let's just say its the type of response we can all expect from her. Here is what she wrote:
Thanks for your email regarding Ontario's pit bull legislation. I welcome your comments on this issue.
Our government introduced amendments to the Dog Owners' Liability Act in 2005 because we heard very clearly from Ontarians that they wanted to be protected from pit bull attacks. We recognize that most dog owners are responsible people, who train and raise their pets well. However, there have been numerous horrific incidents in Ontario and elsewhere, in which people and animals, have been killed or severely maimed by pit bulls. Since these amendments came into effect, there are now fewer pit bulls in Ontario and, consequently, fewer opportunities for a vicious attack by a pit bull.
Ontario sets high standards for responsible dog ownership to keep families safe and secure. Thanks again for contacting me.
Kathleen Wynne
Premier of Ontario
This response angers me and is so ignorant! We really need to make our voices heard. We have to speak for these dogs because they can't. Please please please start emailing Kathleen Wynne what you think.
