The museum responsible for the cultural heritage of Canada has provided archaeologists working at foreign institutions with access to collections that Patricia Sutherland had assembled from archaeological sites in Arctic Canada for the Helluland Project. At the same time the museum denied Sutherland access to the material which she required in order to complete her research. The Canadian Museum of History has been trying to disguise the fact that they carried out these actions, which were not only against all standards of scholarly practice, but which has allowed foreign researchers to profit from work that was funded at the expense of Canadian taxpayers. Please share your concerns regarding these actions of the Canadian Museum of History, and request that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (Justin.Trudeau@parl.gc.ca) and his newly appointed Minister of Heritage (Pablo.Rodriguez@parl.gc.ca) ensure that Dr. Sutherland can continue her research.
