Canada awards a taxable damages payment to injured veterans for the loss of promotions & seniority with the Career Impact Allowance (CIA) but does not award it to the widow of those Killed In Action.

Canada awards a taxable damages award to wounded veterans for their inability to work that is a consequence of their wound with the Career Impact Allowance Supplement (CIAS) BUT it does not pay this to their loved one's that they left behind!

In a democracy where we elect our representaives, is this a fair law? 

No. HELL no.

Please sign this petition to express your outrage & demand that the Widows get the tax free damages they would get if they sued in Tort. Canada cannot tax damages as income when Tort law damages are a Capital payment!

The stated purpose of these awards also affect the family of the fallen. So the government needs to fix this mistake & not just from now on!
