I am literally living out my worst nightmare. My hands and feet are numb and I have facial palsy on the right side of my face. I can’t walk without assistance, I can’t open a water bottle on my own, and my smile is crooked. I am miles away from my home and husband, and my son (who’s attachment with us is still fragile), is being cared for by people who are not his parents. To give us another blow while we’re down, I received a call while I was laying her in a hospital bed informing me that our out of country medical insurance was only valid for 60 days - I’ve now been stranded here for over 100, so none of my medical bills are covered. I’m literally living a nightmare.
We are desperate, heartbroken, grieving.
But, amidst all of this craziness I have witnessed the most radical, inspiring and life-giving love, support and generosity. Our family, our friends, our city, our country and even my new “family” here in Accra has rallied in a way I didn’t know was possible and I honestly feel like I don’t deserve the extreme love I’ve experienced. I am so, so grateful. We are not alone.
Thank you for praying, sharing, rallying and fighting with us. Thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
